Utilities - Charges
and Fees
Establishing Service: There is no deposit required to establish utility service with the City of Atchison. Resident is required to pay a $25.00 plus applicable tax, turn on fee. If resident applies for service on-line or by phone, the turn on fee will appear on the first utility statement. Late and Reconnection Fees: Utility bills are due on the date given on the billing statement. Anything received and processed after this date is considered past due, and a ten percent or $7.00 penalty (whichever is greater) is assessed to the account. Water service is subject to disconnection if the account becomes two months past due. Once water has been disconnected, restoring service involves paying all past due bills, in addition to a $75.00 plus applicable tax, reconnect fee. Returned Checks: Checks returned for insufficient funds are subject to a $25.00 returned check fee. If the water service is disconnected, the resident is required to pay an additional $25.00 plus applicable tax, before the service will be restored. |
