Utilities - Billing Information The City of Atchison manages the water and wastewater systems and continues to provide water that meets or exceeds the requirements of state and federal water quality standards. The City is also responsible for providing a sanitary means of wastewater disposal that complies with the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) requirements. The City of Atchison, Kansas provides water, wastewater and refuse service. All three are billed on a single monthly statement, your City of Atchison Utility Bill. The City of Atchison is divided into four zones for utility billing purposes. The zones determine what week the utility bills will be sent and due. To determine your billing zone, you can use the following example: Example: Account Number 02-0490-01 (use the 1st two numbers to determine your zone) The zones are as follows: Zone 1 is billed the first week of the month and due the first week of the following month. Account numbers 01 thru 08 and account number 16. Zone 2 is billed the second week of the month and due the second week of the following month. Account numbers 09 thru 15. Zone 3 is billed the third week of the month and due the third week of the following month. Account numbers 17 thru 24. Zone 4 is billed the fourth week of the month and due the fourth week of the following month. Account numbers 25 thru 31. Each week, the meter readers relay the readings to the City of Atchison billing department. At that time, the bills are calculated and then relayed to a third party for printing and distributing. |
